That Dang “Poem” Rhyme Again!

I don’t ask you to read my poems—
that wouldn’t be fair.
Again with “poem?"
Like stones
to fill a jar—
I’m the only one who needs to read my poems—
to raise the wake and float the boat,
heavy with cares.
Again with “poem?"

I might live to be eighty, but I’ll never rhyme
“poem” again (until next time), so there!
I don’t ask you to read my poems—

who has time
to read all the poems people want to share
with you? Again with poems?

Gauche to bring a machine gun
on a date with a fairy
elf, asking them to read your poems.
Again with “poem?”
